Workshop: Video Self-Portrait (Beginner Level)

In this hands-on workshop, participants will be guided through the process of making their own video self-portrait. Technical tools and strategies will be offered alongside creative prompts for experimentation with ways we might see and share ourselves using image, text, and sound. We will begin to create video mirrors for ourselves that can be returned to again and again for affirmation of who we are.

Amanda Madden is a queer filmmaker, facilitator, and community organizer whose work explores evolutions of intimacy, identity, body, landscape, and connection. They are also Utah Film Center’s Artist Foundry Program Manger. Their award-winning work includes short narrative films, the TV pilot, Mercy Mistress, and experimental documentary projects and has been exhibited internationally. In addition to their own filmmaking practice, they are the facilitator of a series of virtual workshops focused on creative practice as a tool for introspection and connection called Reflection Collective.

This event is presented by Artist Foundry, a co-working space for filmmakers.
